Apparently the officer who shot Hernandez is pretty messed up. And, of course, he was going to retire this summer.

The officers from the 5-2, where Hernandez worked, lined the hall when they removed his body and stood at attention and saluted as he was removed. I nearly lost it when I read that.

So fucking sad, the whole thing...

Kinda reminds me of that saying,
Shoot first, ask questions later.
Lot's of questions much later, of course, now it's all for naught and much too late.
But the important question is, the dog survived and one got home safely.
all sarcasm aside, Rest in Peace, ofc Hernandez.

They are waiting for the results of an autopsy to see if the beating affected Hernandez's ability to hear the other police officer's commands to drop his (officer Hernandez's) gun. They are trying to see if the beating caused brain damage (the bleeding he had in his brain) he had a broken eye socket showing that the thugs kicked him in the head. They could have damaged his hearing or given him a concussion in which affected his hearing. although the bullet wounds were inflicted and yes he did loose a leg, they said he had no brain activity and felt it was the beating that caused his death
It was also the family (his parrents {he was not married nor had childern}) who decided to take him off of life support. the government has no say, he was declared brain dead.
They also looked watched the tapes at every angle possible. Remember this was 2 of NY's finest involved in this incident so they are handling this case at the highest regards

This is a sad day for that NYPD may Officer Hernandez rest in peace and my condolences go out to his family.

Wait a second...they took a person off life support without Congress going into emergency session to stop it? Without Senator Fritz doing a videotape diagnosis? Without a media frenzy?

I thought this was America!

On another note, won't it be hard to charge the hooligans with murder when what they did was just assault and he was killed by the bullets from the other officer.
