Tastin' the Love

roboppy via flickrThanks to the folks at New York Mag for bringing this one to our attention. Tia Pol's Chef Alex Raij is putting together a Valentine's day menu that contains loving tributes to her favorite dishes throughout the city. Some of Alex's favorites are ours too: Banh Mi So 1's amazing sandwiches, Pearl Oyster Bar's lobster rolls, 'ino's truffled egg toast, and Momofuku's pork buns. For each dish, she creates her own variation.

If you could create your perfect Valentine's day dinner from restaurant dishes, what would you eat?

bahn mi so 1 and nicky's are garbage.saigon banh mi located in the back of the jewelry shop on mott near grand is the best in ny...there a few okay spots in brooklyn but otherwise u need to haull ass to philly, toronto, cali and ofcourse vietnam.

I have been pretty disappointed with the Bahn Mi sandwiches in NYC. You can find better sandwiches in South Philly and Boston. Bahn Mi So 1 is probably the best in city (haven't tried bahn mi sandwiches yet). Nicky's is a rip-off. They take so freaking long to prepare their sandwiches plus their sandwiches are tiny compared to other shops. Be sure to check out this little bahn mi place located in jewlry store on Mott and Grand.

DID YOU GUYS SEE THIS NEW VIET PLACE ON BOWERY CALLED PHO SAIGON? THAT PLACE HAS FOOT LONG BANH MI'S FOR 3 BUCKS!!!

  • Nikki's Bahn Mi in the East village and the Chinatown Mott Street bahn mi places are far superior to Bahn Mi So 1.

    that sandwich looks tasty.

  • For the record, my list includes: fried oysters from Pearl Oyster Bar, the goose liver ravioli from Babbo, the butter poached lobster from Applewood, and a hunk of the foie gras and truffle mouse from D'Artagnan.
