Only stupid people leave their gear in a Uhaul in the WillyB and leave to get beer. Come on. It's got nothing to do with Trash at all. You just fucked up.

Get one of those circular, heavy-duty padlocks. Those things take a chainsaw and ten minutes to cut through because of their unique shape. They're more expensive than the traditional "U"-shaped padlock, but it's a lot better than having your things stolen.

Also, get insurance! You're parking your van on Williamsburg's Southside at night, after all. Although the neighborhood has been cleaned up from violent crime, but break-ins, burglaries and petty theft are still quite commonplace.

That's Bedford Avenue, which also happens to be Brooklyn's longest street (it goes all the way down to Sheepshead Bay). Bedford Street is in the West Village, off of Christopher Street.

Hate to be a dick - but any musician who leaves there equipment unattended in a vehicle, locked or not, is just asking to have it stolen...I have only lost one amp but have had my car broken into on two other occasions when I left what I considered valueless out in the openin the car. I also am wary of leaving my equipment in a venue unless a band member is present to keep a watchful eye over it....

Hey, whoa...sucks that this happened, but aren't you kinda giving Trash a bad rap by displaying their logo, etc. in association with a (rumored!) theft? It's not the club's fault, after all. Trash is a decent place that treats bands who play there very well. This kind of thing could, unfortunately, happen anywhere.

The lock on our van got picked almost politely during broad daylight in Dumbo last summer and a guitar and bag of effects were taken. Renters insurance covered that theft almost completely.

Suffice to say 2 years ago, our rehearsal space was broken into and my Les Paul nicked. The space was apparently illegal (unbeknownst to us), so the landlord begged us not to file a report. We promptly left the space.

In my mind, that landlord still owes me a grand.
