Janelle snapped a clear picture of the new recycling bins at the Jay Street station, and these babies are stunning! Judging by the contents, they are intended for paper recycling. We're guessing they are built of see-through materials for terrorism-related reasons. We've never noticed any recycling bins in the subway before, so these might be the first ones in the whole system-- although the MTA has long had newspaper recycling programs set up on the commuter platforms at Grand Central Station. Does this mean that the MTA will be adding recycling cars to their daily trash trains? [Related: learn more about the MTA's other environmental programs.]

is there also a money train? like that movie... any pics?
but are they scratchiti proof?
it is for anti-terrorism purposes to be able to see what is in a garbage can. recycling? why, that would be every hipster's wet dream.
There is a money train, it is nothing like in the movies, I speak from personal experience. The money train was featured on an episode of Transit Transit that is airing Saturdays at 3:30PM on WNYE.
And I am sure that you meant Grand Central Terminal.
>recycling? why, that would be every hipster's wet dream.
Hipsters care about recycling now? Are you sure that you don't mean hippies, or can we finally just acknowledge that the word hipster doesn't actually mean anything anymore.
>is there also a money train?
There was a money train, but I read that it was recently retired. Not enough cash revenue to warrant it anymore; the mta has moved to above-ground cash transfers, thanks to the success of the metrocard program. Not so Hollywood.
Well, if they are supposed to be used only for recycling, it's not working out that way. I saw some of these garbage cans at Jay Street today, and they were filled with food, ect.
newscompanies and railroads think taking a used newspaper from the garbage is theft. isn't recycling supposed to be good and REDUCE waste?
