If You Don't Scoop, He'll Throw The Poop

The NY Post follows up their coverage of the East 18th Street homeowner's dog-poop attack on the girl whose dog pooped in front of his house: Joel Krupnik's admitted he smeared poop on a 13 year old girl, saying, "I'm tired of these people not picking up after their dogs. I took the mess and I rubbed it in her back." The Post makes a point of noting that the 57 year-old Krupnik is 6' 2" and 250 pounds, and when you arm a man that big with Chihuahua poop, he's clearly a forbidding figure. The Criminal Court charged him with criminal mischief, menacing, and harrassment, plus prohibits Krupnik from contacting the girl; but he was released without bail. Gothamist predicts probation and lots of community service - picking up dog poop, maybe. But maybe this is a call for dog owners to wear plastic coverings in case they miss some poop; for instance, what do you do when you dog makes diarrhea on the sidewalk - that's not very easy to scoop!

Yesterday, our commenters mostly agreed that Krupnik was right to be angry about the girl not scooping up her dog's refuse, though acting out in such a way is extreme. And while the Post makes fun of Krupnik for his insane Santa displays and this, you know they love him because he's the New Yorker that just keeps giving them these awesome stories. Stay tuned until April 5, the day after Krupnik's court appearance.

What he really should have done is crap in front of that 13 year old girl's house. Then we will see how these dog walkers feel when there is shit all over their sidewalk because of someone elses selfishness.

What we really need is the pooper scooper law publicized again. When I called 311 on some selfish poopers, the city said they do not put up those signs anymore because people should know by now becuase it has been the law for a long time now. Obviously alot of people still don't know it is illegal and need to be ticketed.

the Krupnik smear is gross but will become a classic story ....I'm sorry but a 13 yr old isn't going to listen to the old man or anyone else..I guess the smear was worth it in the end..let us hope the poo wand will be put into action. The poo wand is in need of a good slogan. I just like the word poo wand so I felt like typing it again hahah

Of course I want her fined after the fact. Her mother admitted in the Post story her daughter didn't pick it up. Krupnik's supposed to follow her, then find a cop and then get the cop to fine her? I think the doorman and/or mother would have made that difficult w/o the 'smear'.

They both get fined. Fair is fair.

He should have killed her dog. He probably would have received the same punishment, and the girl would likely have been seriously traumatized.

I have to agree with J$. While Krupnik went over the top, he was on the right end of things. The girl who didn't clean up after her dog should have been fined, plain and simple but because she is the aggreived party in the "smear" she's made to be the victim when it's actually NYC that's the victim. Feces carries all sorts of diseases and is a public health hazard, let alone the nuisance of stepping in it.

I wonder if Krupnik will feel that this was "worth it," afterwards - maybe yes.

Who knows what kind of verbal exchange preceded the poop smearing - maybe the kid really did give him a lame excuse or a "whatever."
