Gothamist Band of the Week: R.U.O.K.

ruok.jpg

R.U.O.K. is:
Jared Apuzzo - Drums
Keith Kelly - Guitar/Vocals
Jeff Labarbera - Bass
Mike Murphy - Guitar

R.U.O.K.'s epic sound draws from many apparent influences such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead, but the end result is distinctly their own. Rarely do we come across an unsigned band with such a professional sheen to them. It's hard to believe that their three beautifully produced albums were all self-released. They already have the sound of a finished product. We've been following them for a few years now, (since they were known simply as "The Others") and are consistently impressed with what they are able to come up with musically. Come check them out at an early showcase this Saturday at Crash Mansion. They should be going on around 7:30.

You can download Arctic Warmth, their latest full length album, off their website for free.

Ok I usually pass through the music reviews without giving it second thought but wow! I really like their music, thanks for the link!

they have had the most aggressive poster campaign in williamsburg for something like 2 years straight. somehow I've never been intrigued to listen to them and am still not. sorry!
