This might be the sickest scheme we've heard to smuggle drugs into the country: Stitching bags of liquid heroin into the purebred Labrador retriever puppies. Nooo!!!! The DEA says Colombian drug dealers had a farm of puppies that they'd use to ferry smack to New York City - and three of the puppies died from infections after the dealers removed the packets. The DEA's NY office disclosed this heinous system, as well as noting other arrests they've made in the drug war, saying that puppies, as well as human swallowers and hiding heroin in "body creams...aerosol cans and...linings of purses and luggage," have been used.
We like it better when they find drugs in jewelry and as furniture.

Please stop calling it "smack." You're making a fool of yourself.
Smack is a good word.
Dil is a terrible name.
I dunno, this "smacks" of urban myth, or at least spicin' up a story....purebred dogs? why purebred dogs? Why not mutts?
"dil sucks": You're obviously very street wise when it comes to drugs.
urban myth or not, this is another example of why the drug war sucks as bad as the iraq war: if drugs were legal, no one would be stuffing them up puppies asses.
Agreed with gentle; the headline should read "Another reason to hate the drug war".
There was quite a good anti-drug war article on the Lew Rockwell blog: The Evil War on Drugs.
You guys believe everything without proof, don't you. The feds have no proof, no photos, no nothing. This sounds very suspicious, and you know how truthful government agencies have been lately. This is propaganda with a capital P.
Seriously, think about it. Sewing up heroin inside of purebred puppies? What a laugh. Are we really that dumb?
If this were real, the heroin would be sewn inside of full-grown dogs, as the effort and complications would be reduced per unit volume of heroin. Bigger dogs=more heroin to transfer. This is *obviously* a bullshit story, designed to tug at hapless soccer moms' heart strings, because puppies are cuter and make the alleged drug surgeons look even more inhumane.
But hey, according to you guys, it must be true, it's on the internet!

you people are morons
why is it so hard to believe that you'd pick something of some value to transport something of greater value (in a black market context)?
p.s. the title should be "another reason to hate the war on some drugs"
Note that the word "said" is used in 7 times within the 11 paragraphs CNN used for this so-called report. The whole story is SOLELY based on the word of someone named "Rusty Payne," not on any actual harmed puppies. Sure, they had heroin bags, and a basketful of living puppies. Give me half a day and some cash, and I can concoct the exact same photo-op and say that my neighbor smuggles heroin inside of doggies. This is faux journalism, and obvious political propaganda against Columbia.
Note that CNN also reported this "truth":
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/02/05/sprj.irq.key.points.txt/index.html
This came on the news and I honestly started laughing because it's just that fucked up.
or some hipster/yuppie cokehead...you know, the kind that has 'drug problems" while poor non-whites get saddled with the whole "crackhead/addict/drug fiend" label.
they used purebread puppies, not mutts, so that they could say the puppies were show dogs and that's why they were importing them. people wouldn't import groups of mutts to another country.
