Eww Eww Eww: Sony Advertises on HUMANS!

2006_1_laistfony1.jpgOkay-- we really though the Sony Fony graffiti story had run its course. Surely, we thought, Sony couldn't do anything more silly than employing fake graffiti to advertise its PlayStationPortable. Sadly, we were wrong. LAist is reporting that Sony is now advertising on human skin, by co-opting those little stamps they use at clubs:

The next time you go to a bar or venue that stamps your hand to get in, check that stamp out. We hit The Mint last night, checking out up and coming Holly Conlan and the passionate songwriter David Kidd, to only notice that the stamp on our hand was Sony PSP!!!

Nothing classier than getting branded with some marketing company's artwork! This is definitely worse than the graffiti. At least there they were only messing with our neighborhood walls. Now they are using your skin as their advertising substrate. Disgusting, Sony-- just really, really gross.

I went to the west coast a month ago thinking I could escape the PSP advertising frenzy (I can't remember seeing any PSP fake graffiti in the time I spent in LA, SF or even the east bay), but I wrong! I was stamped at two seperate bars in San Francisco with the little PSP creep icon...and that ink stayed for days... sad.

no pics sorry, but i even saw an already vandalized cube van in the LES with those little zombie PSP characters painted on. same faux-graf ones.

someone needs to appropriate the little guys, holding crack pipes, bibles, or their own cocks. then recover the city in them. see if we can out guerilla their guerilla marketing.

Does Sony pay you for being a carrier for their advertisement?

Really? You're really this upset by this? I don't even look at the stamps I get when I go into a club? Most of the time, they're so smudged, they're unrecognizeable. I really don't get the huge offense people are taking at this PSP campaign.

to #5 Its mainly the principle of it all, all this time spent on anti graf by the city and it's all being completely overlooked by everyone and letting SONY slide with this, there's a good chance that most of the ad-space that they use isn't paid for. Besides, they are using your own skin to advertise something that there already has been an outrage against. Would you like to walk into a tatoo shop and get one thing instead of another, its just the mere principle that they are getting away with this and are making things harder for the already hunted graffers out in the city.

I can think of about a dozen issues in this city that are about a hundred times more important than this.
