There's plenty going on to celebrate the Lunar New year, but of course we're focused on the food. Explore Chinatown's site has a list of restaurants offering special feasts for the occasion, including Gothamist favorite Fuleen Seafood, and explains the different foods that are traditionally eaten as part of the celebration.

January 31: Chef Tasting Series at Appellation: Marc Meyer
Join Mark Meyer from Cookshop as he kicks off the Chef Tasting Series for his next door neighbor, Appellation Wine and Spirits, a wine shop specializing in organic and biodynamic wines. He will prepare selections from Cookshop’s snack menu which Appellation will pair with one red and one white wine. 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., 156 Tenth Avenue. The event is free, but please register sending an email to info(at)appellationnyc.com with subject “Chef Meyer Tasting” or call 212.741.9474.
