After yesterday's posts about Google Map's satellite capabilities and the bi-plane on top of 77 Water Street, we can't get enough. Reader Jeroen sent in this from along 48th Avenue in Long Island City. This makes Gothamist wonder if the proposal took place in a helicopter - or from a neighboring building with a view of that rooftop. At any rate, we admire the proposer's tenacity and hope all worked out well.
Have you found anything else interesting using Google's satellite images?

The cynic in me likes the idea that five men who don't know each other, don't socialize with each other, made this proposal together and each used it with their respective honeys. The romantic in me coos over the idea of this. Who knows!
maybe internerds can just send their girlfriends the image from this post. or tell them to fire up google earth and give them the coordinates.
Hmmm, Maybe put there by a Helicopter tour company?
Wonder what other goodies will emerge in the coming days?
I found this a while ago, but now you can see it a lot better with the extra zooming.
That's on Morgan Ave in Brooklyn.

I forsee a new, undetectable-to-street-cops form of street art.
Think about it; you can spray-paint to your heart's delight, and nobody on the ground can see you. Brilliant!
cute, but his penmanship is atrocious!
This is an actual real proposal and it happened to me!! My current husband personally painted (as you can tell by his "atrocious penmanship")this on the rooftop. It was a freezing day in January 2004 and the paint was freezing on him hence why it looks so bad and he left out my name. He then took me on a helicopter ride around Manhattan and at the end of the trip pointed out the roof. I had no idea it was for me until he showed me the ring. It was an unforgettable, romantic and truly amazing proposal!
Oh my God! That is such a great story! Thanks for commenting, LP. And did he use paint for the lettering? Or paper and tape? Tell him to email me!
