Lots of movement with Gothamist's old, reliable standby, Law & Order. First of all, NBC is moving L&O from Wednesday at 10PM to 9PM. While an hour might not mean much, it actually means our head will explode, with Lost at 9PM on Wednesdays as is Veronica Mars. But this frees up Project Runway at 10PM!! We imagine Dick Wolf is pissed off to have to go head to head with Lost, but maybe that's better than going head to head with CSI: New York, which sucks, but has been putting up a good fight and winning the timeslot occasionally. Or perhaps Wolfie's silence was bought with NBC's go-ahead to his new drama with ADA Alex Cabot (Stephanie March/Mrs. Bobby Flay), Conviction (shh - it's character-driven).
- Mariska Hargitay is going on maternity leave this March - we can only hope that there will be more episodes with ME Warner at the center, as we've been watching Tamara Tunie since her days as "Jessica" on As the World Turns.
- Lawyers are theatrical in court during closing arguments, perhaps because of our Law & Order - not to mention other legal drama - watching habits.
- And S. Epatha Merkerson makes an appearance on Overheard in New York.

I would have to agree that CSI: New York sucks.
A better title for CSI: New York would ba CSI: Los Angeles, since it is where the majority of the filming is done. Who are they fooling?
The question I have is: When "Heist" tanks, will Law & Order return to its traditional spot?
Also, I am shocked they had picked up "Deal or No Deal," as it makes the joke game show from "The Kids in the Hall" called "Feelyat!" look like "The Price is Right." "Deal or No Deal" seemed to be about as exciting as a gameshow called "Paper or Plastic" would be.
Law and Order could be on at 4 am, and I'd still get up to watch it. And tape it.
And...does anyone else want to see Jack keep that neat new hat he's got, and NEVER wear that nasty looking knit hat again?
you really need a dvr
What do you get from a glut of TV? A pain in the neck and an IQ of three.
Why don't you try simply reading a book, or can you just not bear to look?
You'll get no commercials.
If you're not greedy, you will go far. You will live in happiness, too.
L&O is the only show I watch regularly. Other than that, its some Discovery, History, A&E, PBS, and a LOT of books. Don't take it, because someone likes ONE show that all they do, is sit around watching tv. There is a reason they call it, the Boob Tube, after all.
Oh, I have a DVR, as I often am working...or reading when L&O is on.
uh, karen, you obviously don't watch films......
Actually:
I'm thinking it's possible some NBC stations, thinking they could do better against American Idol and Lost with sports or local programming in their individual markets may have threatened to move "E-Ring" and "Heist" to Saturday or Sunday afternoon or overnight, and NBC's move of "L & O" to 9:00 PM may be to prevent that.
Affiliates have more control over a schedule than you might think. Two years ago, it was why NBC gave a quick hook to "The Restaurant", something then-NBC Entertainment head Jeff Zucker admitted to why it was moved. I think they may have forced NBC to move "L & O" to 9:00 PM by threatening to pre-empt "E-Ring" and "Heist" more than what would be thought.
