If the incident happened in the NYCTA system then you contact the NYPD. The MTA Police patrol the LIRR, MNRR and SI Rapid Transit. When in doubt contact the nearest law enforcement agency and you will be directed on where to file your complaint.

that is horrible! every day on the E i see someone get their purse or briefcase caught in the doors sometimes that is because they are running to make it and go bag first to hold the doors(DUMB!), or they get their bag stuck while they themselves are on the train safely. usually the doors open up and allows them to pull their bag to safety. it is unfortunate that this happened, and while someone could rob you at any point getting your bag stuck in the door seems to me to be preventable in most cases.

You wouldn't get much in my handbag..lets see..about 5 or 6 different lipgloss, a million pens, broken down headphones, tylenol, pack of matches, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, an old ticket that is paid, three burned out metrocards..oh and if your lucky a piece of gum or a partridge in a pear tree.

If someone robs you on the subway, call the NYPD. The transit police have not existed for over ten years.
