Who could name a child Nixzmary? It's not a bad name. I hope the lives of those meanies who killed her are always miserable. Um about her name it's a really beautiful name. And what does Martin Luther King jr.'s wife have to do with anything? Hey Brian, was it her fault she died?! There are other ways of punishing children! And whoever speaks out against him for hitting her isn't against the troops, because the troops have nothing to do with it. When I say the name Nixzmary it reminds me of flowers and gardens. This is so sad. And her last words make me cry. When I first heard Nixzmary was dead I was thinking, how could anyone do that to there 7 year old child?

Nixzmary did not desever all this. Cesar should get the same beatings and eat cat food and use a litter box as what nixzmary got and nixal..what ever her name is and cesar should die the same way nixzmary died. who agrees? Im 10 so i feel very bad. I could just imagine what that was like.....

The mother of nixalis santiago is part to blame for what happend to nixmary brown. She was a very abusive mother and very unsanitary in her upkeeping of her home. nixalis has three brother and thay are drug addicts and thives, And are in and out of jail most of the time. I know the family for about 30 years so I'm not making this up. And I think nixalis is not all to blame for what happend cause of her upbringing. nixalis father was also a drug addict and left when the children were very little. so thay come from a what ever you might call it family. I think that you all should take a good look at your society and why such people come from it. American society is hedonistic, evil, sick, materialistic, and child-hating, which enables such monsters to do their deeds. It is a pity that no teachers from Nixzmary's school could have just taken her home, but they would have most likely been prosecuted for who knows what, while her sick mother's sicko "boyfriend" was allowed to continue his torture of a little girl.

I don't think that it matters how many men her mother had, whether she was illegal or not, or how much money her family had -- every child deserves protection from such abuse.

All of this comes down to the fact that in your sick society only families with money count. Nixzmary's family were just poor immigrants but in another school in another part of the USA a 6-year old boy was suspended from school for "sexual harrassment" because he snapped the waistband of some girl he said poked him first. This little kid doesn't even know what he did wrong, but the families in his school district have money so the administrators must be very PC in fear of offending anyone, but little girls that come from poor families you can do what you want with it seems.

Things in your X-tian ociety haven't changed much since the times of Oliver Twist. I am very, very, very, very thankful that I do not live in your sick country and that I live in a society that loves and protects our children.

Hey Cruz....I have gone thru and still I am thru same emotions as you are. I cried alot and been very saddened. I have not slepped well....believe me I use to sleep alot and lately not sleep much at all. Stepfather kept those kids home did not send them to school because he was have sexual pleasure and voilent torment to these kids. he was I guess in a vey sick way put as was living in his own sicko fantasy. I just hope he is being given the beating of his life in jail and no one have any sympathy.

I have never in my life been so affected by a story as Nixzmary's. It has left me disturbed, and upset. It has been so hard to go to sleep at night, knowing that there are crazy, fucked up individuals in this world that would treat kids this way. I may not have known her, but her story, her pain, is so shocking, that it shook my soul so deeply, that I have not been right with my own existence anymore. It makes you stop and wonder how to absorb this sad tragedy, and live with yourself. I was so compelled to go see her at her 2nd wake down in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and had paid a visit to her home in Brooklyn of her vigil outside. Tears always come to my eyes, as I wonder every waking moment of my life, what more could we as society had done. How did we let this happen.

I do not accept all those who say, oh, it's nothing we can do about it, it's going to happen again, who cares. There will always be another neglected child out there in this world. That is unacceptable.

I am a native New Yorker, born in the Bronx, raised in Manhattan. I had been a member of the NYC Guardian Angels, and I always believed in helping and protecting people. I was also in the Military, and to me I know the Stepfather is seen by the Military as a disgrace for his service. He probably was discharged with other than a General or Honorable Discharge. This means he would have had a hard time getting a good job on the outside, as his tainted record in the Military would follow him anywhere he goes in civilian life.

Nixzmary, may your soul rest in peace. You will never be forgotten, as I can tell by all the people who have written to this post above. Even after all is said and done, I will still remember your memory, forever and more. I will place a framed picture of you in my house along with my other family pictures, as one of my own. Everyone that knew this stepfather all knew he was a real bad guy. the army saw it, his employer saw it, his relatives saw it, I can sense from his father in the way he has responded that even he knew his son was a very sick man.

First let us take the beasts in consideration- what a "mother" she was, when she blamed the poor child for the yogurt, she should not have told him when she knew that he was a "beast of a man".

Second - if she was such a 'bad girl', then why did she get a good name in school, as a clever and quiet girl.

They talk to our children about getting in cars with strangers, they talk to them about safe sex. Why did the school not take this child aside and talk to her about the suspected abuse. The called cps a number of times? I think that every school should talk to kids about un normal home situations. This girl obviously didnt know any better to tell anyone and niether did her siblings. probley because this was all they knew, abuse was thier life ,your surroundings in your home is all you know. Lets face it every child is born innocent untill they are in the hands of someone who takes that away. These teachers are with our children 7 hours a day 245 days a year they are a great influence on how our children grow and mature. I know if I saw this girl and I worked in her school there is no way I could just make a call and turn my back. Alls I am saying is we need to knowledge our kids and encourage them to go for help, let them know its not ok, before its too late.

This seems to happen every few years or so... A child is murdered, brutally. The media is all over it. Child protection agency employees are fired and we are promised that things will change. Then the sensationalism dies down and nothing changes and a few years later another baby is murdered by another abusive piece of shit. Looks like things will never change. People will still give birth to too many children who are not cared for...Abused children will fall thru the cracks...some will be killed. I have been reading all your comments, and I too am very sad about Nixzmary's tragic death. Also as sad as I am about her death, I am appalled that some of the WEAKER few, would choose this site to harrass this poor angelic child from beyond her grave. Has she not suffered enough? Do you really need to blame her and make fun of her name? I wonder what name she would choose to call you? (I have a few in mind myself). God tells us to forgive and not to judge others, so I have tried to forgive all those involved... simply because the sooner I forgive them, the sooner God will judge them.
