Remember back in December when the Post took a look at the faux-nightclub for teens, Crush? And then how Gawker had its fun ripping apart excruciatingly irritating promoter, Lizzie Grubman's "16-year-old socialite-private-school-jappy-spoiled-Upper-East-Side intern," Lexi Lehman?
Well, get ready for round two.
Tomorrow's Sunday Styles catches up with the Post with its own story on teen nightlife. First off the Times stops by Crush, where it doesn't sound like business is doing so hot ("we're still working out the kinks," says the owner). And in case you were worried, Lexi is still around giving out sweet sound bites (when "describing the migratory hangout pattern of her peers, she said: 'We go to a friend's house. Or you see groups of kids wandering up and down Park Avenue at night.") After Ms. Lehman, the Times introduces the world to the seemingly anti-Lexi, Odetta Hartman. Heir to the Two Boots empire, Ms. Hartman has been organizing "First Friday" variety shows for and by the under-21 set at her poppa's newest venue Mo Pitkin's. And unlike Crush, her shows sound like they are doing just fine. Do we smell an inter-school cat fight?
Of course, when we were in high school we were just happy if the cops didn't show up and our parties broke even on the kegs, but maybe that's just us. Which is to say, ugh. We feel old.

Personally I love how this is still quoted, even though Lizzie meant it as a joke in the first place because Lexi is not like that at all.
Lexi is 17, isn't jewish (so i guess it's hard to be a jap when you aren't jewish and really gothamist i thought you were above spreading of such derogatory terms), and is far from being spoiled for living on the UES. And this is coming from a poor college student.
That's great Odetta is setting up band nights, I'm sure Lexi would support her in it, after all, Lexi was doing that two years ago.

As a Jewish male New Yorker who graduated from and NYC private school in 2001 with a bunch of jappy, shallow girls, I would just like to say that I am not at all offended by Gothamist's use of the term. It's completely accurate when describing this vapid whores from the East Side who care more about spending daddy's money than anything else. They're japs. It's not derogatory to Jews, and plenty of non-Jewish private school snobs are japs too. The word transcends religion these days. Remove the pole from your ass, Ryan.

As for calling Lexi a jap, one shouldn't call someone they don't know a derogatory term if they do not infact know them, but I guess your over priced private nyc school wouldn't have taught you that. As for crush not doing so hot I went there last night to check it out and it was pretty packed, I dunno if they were making money off of it, but there was a large number of people there.

What if I had typed "these"? Does that make you feel better? I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. None of the jappy girls at my private school hurt my feelings. I found a good group of friends. I'm just saying it like it is. Anyway, you didn't go to private school so enlighten me as to how you're familiar with many of these self-important teenage girls who do go to private school. I would think that I, as an alum of one of these institutions, would have a better understanding of the social dynamics than you, a college student, frequenting 18-and-under clubs.

I am familiar with some teenage private school girls because I happen to know one of them who has introduced me to her friends. As for you having a better understanding of the social dynamics of private schools, I am quite sure you do. I am just telling you what I know. And I don't frequent teen clubs, though i am under 21, so maybe i should. I was asked to go by a friend and for her i happily went.
