I checked your link the IPCC-they're the guys who's report was changed by the UN in 1997-to show results that didn't coincide with their research. Nice try-more evidence that the "environmental movement" is run by special interests and primarily interested in our money.

Dude, you're not even responding to my points. Get real. I would be happy to offer you links to the IPCC, a group of SCIENTISTS. These aren't environmentalists. They're actually doing research. Dire consequences from co2 emissions included-according to environmentalists earlier predictions, from the early 1970s......Manhattan would have been underwater in 1980. So far 8th avenue hasn't been used as a canal-how's YOUR tinfoil hat Benjamin?!?

The January Thaw, more of a cultural myth than an actual meteorological phenomenon, is usually said to occur at the end of the third week in January. It will be the subject of a Gothamist weather post in a week or two so stay tuned.

It's called "false spring", a semi-regular regional warming that takes place around the second week of January. It's been scientifically studied since at least the mid 19th century, and (I'm guessing) was surely part of weather folklore long before then. Nothing to see, move along...

well said benjamin. also, it's worth noting that models of how global warming will affect weather patterns include more frequent and extreme storms, which we've definitely seen in 2005.

If you thought global warming was about everything being warmer all the time, you have a lot to learn. A better term is global climate change. Overall the Earth will be warmer. However, because of the way climate change affects weather patterns, some areas will be warmer while others will be cooler. But keep spreading those myths about global warming and people will continue to ignore this serious threat.

People have such short memories. The first twelve days of last January were almost a degree warmer than the first 12 days this year. Tomorrow is going to be awful and the wind chill Sunday is going to be brutal. More later...
