The Author Project

2006_01_arts_asawa.jpgDave Eggers and Paul Auster start a band...it sounds like the beginning of a joke. For better or worse, it's not. Joe Pacheco's documentary, As Smart As They Are: The Author Project documents how the McSweeney's in-house band, One Ring Zero, collaborated with some writers to make Lit Rock.

The documentary includes live performances, studio sessions and interviews with the writers and musicians, while exploring relationships between music and literature. The featured players are Dave Eggers, Paul Auster, Jonathan Lethem, Rick Moody, Jonathan Ames, Myla Goldberg, Darin Strauss, Amy Fusselman, Clay McLeod Chapman & Lawrence Krauser.

Tonight you can catch it all live at 826NYC. A screening of the documentary will air, and you can witness the band live and in action as they perform. Which is either going to be really awesome, or really really bad. If you miss the documentary and show tonight, you can see the band play on February 15th at Mo Pitkins.

Thursday, January 12th // 7pm // 826NYC // Suggested donation is $10
