Messier was a great NY Ranger and well deserves his accolades but as I watched the ceremony, the thought struck me that the Rangers' Cup was in, well, 1994. Shall we move on? I hope the Oilers have feted him similarly. After all, he won five Cups with them. www.forgotten-ny.com

I used to love going to Yankee games when the Rangers were in the playoffs before they won the cup. There were chants of "1940" from the Isles fans when the Ranger fans saw the score update and shouted "Lets go Rangers!" It is a shame that they killed hockey with the strike as many including myself have learned to live without it.
