Gun Control measures greatly effect crime. Glad that that shmuck down at OD firing ranges likes to "thumb his nose" at our city. F him. Why does everyone gets so black and white on this-either it is useless, or a sign of the mommy state? Just hold gun owners to the same level of scrutiny and responsibilty as any other high risk activity, seems simple enough.

This whole gun control thing is a waste of time. Whichever way it goes, it does little to influence actual shooting statistics, because shooting someone is a lot more illegal than not getting a gun license. (So apparently the shooter won't listen to gun legislation, regardless). What about Bloomberg's promise to give every child in NYC free healthcare? Remember THAT one?

I agree. Let's disarm the police and the military as well. If our troops and all of our security forces lay down their weapons we will then have a peaceful world. We must also outlaw knives of all kinds. They can be used for violence. And sticks, stones...fists as well. They should all be outlawed. And unkind words - they are hurtful too. Don't forget,there are abuses of the 1st ammendment, not just the 2nd. NYC has just made cans of spray paint and magic markers illegal for anyone under 18 (this will stop graffiti). This is a good first step. I'm sure graffitti will completely go away soon. If we make all guns illegal the criminals will no doubt stop using them given their respect for our laws and regulations. Just like Washington DC.
