i agree-- smoke was streaming over all of downtown for about an hour-- and there was a lot of noise. definitely worth a post.

Who cares? What makes this fire different from any other run-of-the-mill fire? Are we going to look back on this even a couple of days from now and give a shit? What criteria does an event need to meet to get an entry on Gothamist?

3 alarm fire, staging area at 7th Avenue and Houston. Air Recon helicopter up, directing units to response areas. Command post set in front of building. 3:16pm progress report.. 25x75 5 story brick structure. Fire floor 3rd and 4th with extension to the top floor. Primary searches for victims are complete and negative. Secondary searches underway as fire darkens down.
