Saturday Afternoon Cute: Cockatoo Edition

2006_01_07_babycock.jpg

OK, we know that some of ya'll are getting a bit tired of the cute, so today's cute is a bit different. You see, NYBird has been tracking the development of a Goffin Cockatoo from birth both on flickr and in a blog. Normally birds aren't the first thing we think of when we think of cute, but some of these photos are just so adorable we couldn't help ourselves (meanwhile some of them are freaking terrifying.). So you see, not just a cute picture today, but a NY web reference too.

And if that's not enough cockatoo for you, check out this cockatoo with artificial legs [via youcantmakeitup].

Of course it's cute. *nods* ALL babies are cute.

ANYONE who can easily say they want to kill any baby animal or animal in general should be SHOT. Birds are wonderful intelligent creatures!!! It's obvious that there are MANY people here who have never spent a day with a bird in their entire life or are just poor excuses for human beings.

  • A lot of baby birds are cute, but this one is kinda scary looking

i must be one of the only people who thinks baby birds are cute but i can live with that. thank you for posting this!

  • Crudla

Grunt. Look at that. Creature annoys me because it's ugly. Feel primal urge to kill it for this reason. [knuckles dragging on ground]

I hear if you go to thailand you can purchase dozens of these "cock-atoos" who will happily serve as your sex slaves in exchange for bringing them back to the states.

  • Polly

Cluck! That chick is so wrong it's right! Where can I hatch me one of those?

  • Susie

First of all, it's "pigeon" not "pidgeon."

Second, even a pigeon can be a war hero, although you're not. What does that say about you?

  • Brian

This is so not cute. What were you thinking. :(

  • hawk

You obviously missed the revisionist treatise titled; "WWII Pidgeons discovered to be double agents dropping infected feces on allied troops."

  • john maybeeeee

Birds are evil. This is the ugliest bit of evil I've ever seen.

  • Susie

Obviously, you've never heard about the many pigeons who served bravely in WWI and WWII. Most notable was the pigeon "GI Joe" whose actions saved the lives of hundreds of allied troops.

All birds should be illegal in NYC except birds of prey. If I have to destroy one more pidgeon nest on my terrace, or clean up the shit again I'm taking out my bb gun!
