Break Up the Knicks!

2006_01_sfrye.jpgDon’t look now, but the Knicks are on a winning streak. Channing Frye scored 30 points in only 26 minutes to lead the Knicks to a 113-92 victory over Washington Friday night.

While Washington is not a very good team, there were a number of encouraging signs from this game. The Knicks shot over 54% from the field while holding the Wizards under 42%. They dominated the boards 49-30 including 16-10 on the offensive glass. Larry Brown gave only nine players significant minutes, including Trevor Ariza who he had called “delusional” one day earlier.

So, are Larry’s changes finally sinking in? He may have finally found his starting five with Marbury, Robinson, Lee, Davis and Curry while Frye seems to flourish off the bench. Shortening the rotation can only help, as guys get comfortable in certain roles. The real test will come next week when they play back-to-back games against Cleveland and Dallas.
