Rose Bowl Preview

New York is one of the few areas of the country that doesn’t care about college football. Maybe it’s because we don’t really have a local team to root for (Rutgers isn’t quite there yet) but we don’t pay a lot of attention to it. Tonight would be a good time to change that attitude as Texas plays USC in one of the best matchups in recent history.
USC is going for a third straight national championship and the chance to continue their 34-game winning streak. For the first time ever, two Heisman winners will be on the same team as Reggie Bush and Matt Leinert lead USC’s potent offense.
Texas has won 19 straight games and comes back to the Rose Bowl after a thrilling victory over Michigan in 2005. Texas relies on Vince Young to use his arm and legs to guide them to victory.
So, will you watch? It should be worthwhile as both teams can put up points and should provide an entertaining game. Gothamist thinks USC prevails 42-31.

College football?
Who has the four hours to waste on it?
Apparently Rodeo on 3rd Ave is having some big bash for it. Passed by multiple signs on my way to work promoting this event with a "Go UT!" sign in the window of Rodeo this morning.
ny doesn't have a local team? columbia, guys, c'mon!
bwhahaha. columbia football. bwhawhahaha.
anyway, i think/hope texas will finally end usc's reign of terror on the college ranks.
Don't care about college football? Anyone within a mile radius of Joshua Tree last night (aka Orange Bowl night) surely must've heard cheers of "WE ARE ... PENN STATE," no?
Oh come on - USC's going to kill Texas....and anyway - what about NYU football!?
I usually don't have four hours to kill on a college football game, but for this I'll make time. As much as it pains me to say it....go USC.
It has to be said...Hook 'em Horns!
What does all this have to do with NYC? Irrelevant post. This isn't a sports blog, right?
