This is nice news... the building is very cool, kinda pretty yet forlorn. And now it's the only thing on the block, so I was sure its days were numbered. Maybe WF is going to do something with it.

Odd, though, that a WF would go in there, it's still a pretty industrial area. The South Brooklyn Casket Company is diagonally across the intersection. Not sure how WF folks are going to dig seeing shipments there having just emerged from the organic cereal aisle.

Does anyone know when the Whole Foods is supposed to open? Granted, it's not even built yet and signs say they are still doing Haz Mat cleanup, so I'm guessing sometime 2007 at the very very earliest. Whole Foods website doesn't have a date yet and by their progress on the Houston store, I'm dubious of a speedy opening.

Anyone have any other info on it? How many floors it will have? Apartments above, etc? It's going to transform that whole area.

Ever notice that there are only two corners in Manhattan where streets meet up with avenue of the same number? 1st and 1st and 2nd and 2nd.

2nd street represent!
