Thanks for the list of affordable champagnes, i hope they have some of this stuff in Montreal. While champagne is a must for NYE i don't think i could drink it all night so the mixing is inevitable.

another wonderful bang for the buck is the non-vintage loire valley sparkler at discovery wines on ave A called "Baumard Carte Turqouise" i bought cases of it for my boss to give to my co-workers and it went over gangbusters and, there's a secret little special-ness for those of us that continue to smoke it is GOREGOUS with a cigarette! it brings out this goregous lovely creaminess

If you're looking for bang for the buck with a fizzy wine, I can't recommend highly enough the Graham Beck Brut Rosé from South Africa that they have at Astor Wines for a mere $14.99. It's really delicious, and great for bringing to a party because it's just a little bit different.

Anonymous, there are various ways to spell Chanukah in its English transliteration from Hebrew. Hence the LeeVees song "How do you spell Chunnukkahh?" and yesterday's very humorous NPR piece on the many spellings.

HanukKah's spelling is easy enough to look up - try to not be completely lazy and inconsiderate.
