Loving NY1's Transit Strike Coverage

2005_12_ny1bobbycuza.jpg

On the first day of the transit strike, we asked you if you crushed on any local news reporters while watching non-stop coverage. And according to our highly unscientific straw poll, NY1's Bobby Cuza takes the top honors. Which makes sense, since he seemed to be on the air every possible moment! Gothamist really did love scrappy NY1's one-two-three punch of Cuza at the Grand Hyatt (where the negotiations were usually taking place)Rebecca Spitz in the studio, and Dean Meminger at TWU headquarters, as we would debate whether or not to go to bed or keep watching to see if something new would happen. (For the record, the big announcements happened at 3AM - when the strike was announced - and midday - when the transit workers returned to work.) Not that Gothamist necessarily wants some crazy emergency to see these kids in round-the-clock action again, but they were awesome.

Spitz is the NY1 reporter who was hit by van while doing a standup in Harlem - she was in coma for two months; later on the NY Times covered her wedding. And did you realize that Meminger's father is Dean "The Dream" Meminger, who played on 1973 championship-winning Knicks?

What? No props for Sandra Endo? That girl is a cutie.

I've noticed that too,
why no sandy endo? She was at the grand hyatt with cuza. And, she is a cutie.

The lack of props to sandra is because Sarah Silverman stopped writing for Gothamist. Rebecca Spitz should have retired when she woke up because she sucks now.

I used to be addicted to NY1, watching it for hours on end late into the night. Thankfully by ditiching cable I have broken the addiction.

Jen, I've gotta admit that I feel like I've been crushing on *you* these past weeks. Between refreshing gothamist every few minutes hoping for an update (we don't have TV here in bushwick) and reading gothamist when going away for holidays (gosh we miss NYC even when we're gone for a few days), I feel like we go way back. it doesn't matter what you look like, what you do...only that you created and write the best NYC blog in existance. and because of your great work here, I am both grateful and have a bit of a crush. keep up the good work!

Is there anything more pathetic than a Christmas eve declaration of affection on a blog comment board? I think not.

get over yourself. she asked if anybody has been crushing on their news source...if you can't handle dating somebody who is a (semi) public figure, then you oughta move on. stop being so insecure and deal.

Take it from this happily married old man:
NY1's ladies are talented broadcast journalists...and hot.
And what about the NYTimes front-page story about reporters smiling their way through the strike, highlighting NY1's boy wunderkindt
Pat Kiernan?
I also got my strike coverage from NY1 and they did a commendable job.

Now I'm picturing Patrick's keyboard caked over like a 10 year-old soap dish from all the wank fests he has after getting his "Jen"-on. Ew.

Woah there Harsh Reality. Just 'cause some absurd nasty thought enters your mind doesn't mean it needs to be expressed publicly.

i'd like to second b-dog's comment.
