Have a Heart (on us)

2005_12_heatlh_iraqi_heart.jpgThink of it as a holiday present from New York to some Iraqi children. The Daily News reports that an 11-year-old Iraqi boy underwent a much needed heart operation yesterday at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx as part of “Operation: Iraqi Hearts.” Wsim Rabea’s family is one of 60 that sought medical help from the American military’s Civic Assistance Command in Baghdad for their very ill children. The surgeon, Dr Samuel Weinstein, performed the charity surgery with funding from The Rotatory Program and the Rachel B. Cooper Foundation. No matter your opinion on the war, you can agree that at least a few American (and New York) heroes are still around.

If you were an Iraqi citizen who was against the war, would you seek medical help from the United States?

I guess the question is - what do you value higher? Your pride or your life?
