Holiday Hell - With Frosting and Sprinkles!

2005_12_food_holidaygoodies.jpgDid your hipster colleague from Williamsburg bring in two dozen donuts to work from Peter Pan Doughnuts & Pastries? Did your client send a mammoth gift basket crammed with shortbread, biscotti and brownies to your office? Did the geeky IT support gal bring in homemade cupcakes? Did your tightwad boss make a display of bringing in several boxes of decadent chocolates from the likes of La Maison du Chocolat or Chocolate Bar?

In short: Are you being forced to endure a torrent of fattening foodstuffs "magically" appearing on your office conference table?

You are not alone.

Yes, across our fair city, workers are being tortured by Toll House cookies and persecuted by panettone. There is nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. After all, you need the paycheck. Co-workers claim it's simply holiday cheer and call us curmudgeons. But, we say it's hell frosted with peppermint icing and sprinkles.

Share your latest workplace holiday food horror. Sharing won't take away the calories - but it might make you feel less alone.

actually, i'm insanely bummed
i work in an office where all the execs are on the floor above us which means, they don't share the goodies or the wealth
i actually had to go foraging yesterday during a meeting to find something to satisfy my sweet tooth
total bummer!

Free jumbo cupcakes from cosmetic companies keep filtering into my office via the beauty editors. When even the lipstick makers are trying to fatten you up on top of everyone else's free cookies, cakes, chips pies, candies etc. you know it's way past overkill.

Oh my god - Peter Pan is my favorite food spot in Greenpoint (eeeh, maybe that's not saying much). Best uniforms ever. It's a must for every visitor I host...

Psh, forget the cookies and cupcakes. Our boss force fed us Jack Daniels, imported beer, and unlimited plates of combination fried stuffs. Oh the horror!

Peter Pan is in Greenpoint, not Williamsburg...and Ryan, there's a lot of good food there if you know where to look.

A basket from our print rep filled with every chocolate variation possible. Help!

somebody sent us a holiday box of candy from the '50s and '60s. right now i'm munching on a chick-o-stick, and have a zagnut on deck.

we just finished our department holiday lunch which included a three-tiered selection of fondue and lots of cheesecake. yum! and the white wine, oh! sweet delicious nectar of the gods!

peter pan is the movement. yeah, and it's in greenpoint, not williasmburg.

Suggestion: You can forward all your unwanted holiday deliciousness to me. Seriously, it's the season for eating. Throw caution to the wind and just hit the gym after New Year's.

I actually JUST told my friend I'd be stopping by the Peter Pan on the way to her place tomorrow, if there's a strike (though I still prefer the old name...MUFFIN-COFFEE-DONUTS).

Potato Chip Cookes came in today. Don't waste your time...or the calories.

i have to walk by the back of peter pan every morning on the way to the subway and it's torture. it smells waaaay too good.

Our whole staff went to lunch. It was hard to get a table that could accommodate the three of us. We tried Wondee Siam on 9th and 54th. Great Thai! Cheap too. Any one else been there?
