Cool Brooklyn Historical Pix

Awesome Brooklyn Historical Pix

We just killed twenty or thirty minutes browsing the galleries at Brooklyn Pix-- they've got pages for most of the borough's larger neighborhoods. Our favorites: Park Slope [check out this great shot of the famous Sterling Street plane crash], Williamsburg, and Coney Island. For more Brooklyn history goodness, we recommend the archives of the old Brooklyn Eagle Magazine, now fully digitized and online.

Thanks for the links, Jake and anonymous. Nice pic of the Park Slope plane crash. I always wanted to see that.

I found this intresting Park Slope Reader article on the crash. It is a very sad story.

The title you are looking for for the "brooklyn eagle magazine" is the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

It was a daily newspaper published for 114 years, but only the issues from 1841-1902 have been digitized and made available through the Brooklyn Public Library website.
