Giants-Cowboys Preview

2005_09_sgiantslogo.jpgIt has been fifteen years since he was carried off the field in Tampa after Scott Norwood’s kick sailed to the right. Eventhough he has coached against them multiple times from three different sidelines, the Giants have never faced Bill Parcells with this much on the line. The winner of this game takes control of the NFC East and a shot at a home playoff game. The loser will face a tough road to make the playoffs as a wild card team.

While many things have changed since that day in 1991 some haven’t, war in Iraq, a President named Bush and Bill Parcells having a strong defense. The Cowboys may not have the stars the Giants once did, but they play a tough defensive system and swarm to the ball. Eli Manning will have to be on his guard as the Cowboys will mix and match their coverages all day to try and confuse him.

On the offensive side of the ball, Dallas has the deep threat of Terry Glenn combined with Jason Whitten and Keyshawn Johnson leading their passing attack. Drew Bledsoe has been solid, but is known to make the big mistake at the wrong moment. But this game will come down to Eli versus the Dallas defense. Dallas will most likely take away the running game and force Manning to beat them. Gothamist thinks he does, 21-17.
