There's a vendor at 84th & Amsterdam advertising all balsam fir trees for $25. It was raining so I didn't cross the street to take a closer look. Also, biggest selection I saw on my walk home was on Columbus next to the American Museum of Natural History

trees are sold all over the city, but from the responses here, it seems it woul dhave been more useful to ask for a survey of tree prices throughout the city. The BK crew seems to think they have the best prices, so, what are the price/size/species ratios out there? That would be much more useful.

In Astoria, at the 30th Avenue station: Walk two blocks east from the station. Outside the RiteAid and the Key Food, there are trees being sold from now until Christmas! That's where we got "Margo Tennenbaum", our tree last year. This year? "Margo II: Badder than Bad"!

In Kensington, BK - great nursery on Caton Avenue and 7th Street. They have a great selection of trees and excellent service. I got a gorgeous tree last year for about $40. They also have all of the accoutrements.

The cheapest place to get them is Home Depot in Gowanus, Brooklyn. 20 bucks for a tree! In Manhattan you'd easily pay $100 for something half the size of the beautiful trees I've gotten there.

There is usually a set-up on the corner of 14th and 1st. They provided me with trees for many years. And they are open pretty late. There is also usually a tree vendor at the Saturday Union Square Farmers' Market.

If you're around Greenpoint, I recommend the place on McGuinness, close to Greenpoint Av (can't remember the intersection). They tend to have the freshest trees at the best prices, with a nice variety of sizes and types. And to sp: I guess this doesn't help you Manhattan folks...no reasonably-priced trees for you!

The bodega in my old apartment building always sold trees out front - I don't live there anymore, but check out the corner of 20th and Park.

In Park Slope they sell 'em in fromt of the CVS on 9th St. btw 5th and 6th and at various churches along 7th Avenue (def. the one around 7th/President). What I need is a sucker to help me lug one home.

"This led to a fruitless hour of searching Google for a list of Christmas tree retail location in the five boroughs." lol, tree vendors are for the most part canadians who come down for the month and set up on the street. they live in their vans, its a cash business, they pack up and leave when theyre gone. they dont have websites. theres not really such thing as a "Christmas tree retail location" in New York, maybe in the burbs, but not in manhattan.

all of broadway pretty much from 59th street up. but i guess that doesnt help you downtown hipsters who consider anything over 14th street going "upstate." No trees for you!
