Are you French or an American in Paris? ( I would assume an American by your use of the word "Clunk") The French loved the movie! It has been tearing up not only the box office in France but also in Spain and the U.K. Everyone is saying such good things about this film. Personally I love Monsieur Allen but then again I am an East Coast Jew so it is sort of genetic. I don't think that it will have the same success here that it has overseas but it is by far his most profitable film in years. Maybe it was the change of scenery? The fish and chips in London must have done Woody some good as he shooting his next movie there now.

Also, Anything Else was really pretty good. People just like complaining about it. Let's replace that with "Curse of the Jade Scorpion", shall we?

well...i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Match Point stinks. it came out over here in paris about a month ago and it is one of the worst films i have seen in a very long time. the acting was quite dry, especially from the two leads, and i guess it just goes to show you that good looks can't get you everything. i didn't care a bit about the male lead, was not at all compelled by his story, found the dialogue might have done well in other hands but felt contrived coming from these actors, and while a few wonderful scenes (there is a great one in the police station) bring some light, this film clunks along.

it reminded me of someone just getting out of a bad break up and acting like an asshole at a dinner party.

happy movie going!
