After a 2-4 road trip through the West, the Knicks returned to Madison Square Garden to avenge one of the road swing's losses in a 103-92 win over Portland Sunday. Stephon Marbury had his best game of the season (27 points, 8 assists) and outshone Sebastien Telfair, the Trail Blazers point guard and Marbury's cousin. Although the Knicks earned their third victory, Gothamist still sees plenty of things to be worried about.
It's no secret that head coach Larry Brown wishes he had a different set of players. Starting Malik Rose (and letting him play 28 minutes) should give that away. Eddy Curry, also starting, needs to get more than two rebounds in 17 minutes. Jamal Crawford continues to jack up terrible shots, and he could be the first one traded if the Knicks can find someone to eat his contract.
On the bright side, Channing Frye, the rookie from Arizona, has scored over 20 points in each of his last three games. He may not be Brown's type of player, but given the complete lack of such a thing on the Knicks roster, Gothamist wouldn't be suprised to see him get more time. The Knicks travel to Charlotte on Wednesday before hosting Philadelphia on Saturday.

Larry Brown needs to stop playing veterans simply because they are veterans, and needs to put the most productive players on the floor. It is an absolute joke that Malik Rose gets as much playing time as he does
