Parks is not going to "just put the whole project on hold for now and come back to it in a few years." Without a fight, they will move the fountain and shrink the area and start on the path to turning the park into a quad for NYU that's up for rent so they can pay for the renovation. And they'll do it soon. And once they do, the park is ruined forever.</p>
