Man, those hipsters in Williamsburg are sure mad at George Bush! The last couple of weeks has shown a sharp increase of anti-government graffiti-- up about 152% by our reckoning. Poor George! First he finds out that the rest of the country is mad at him, and now he's unwelcome on Bedford Avenue!

if only the same people who would spraypaint 'questioning government is the most american thing a person can do' would remember that same thing when they're busy supporting more federal control of schools, health care, trade, etc. etc. etc..

bedford street to bedford ave. you caught that fast! haha

Those williamsburg hipsters are full of shit. Where were they during the buildup to the local elections last week? nowhere.

How about this:

QUESTIONING OUR MAYOR
IS THE MOST AMERICAN THING
A NEW YORKER CAN DO.

For every hipster that didn't vote, I wish them an extra-long jail stay when they get nabbed for riding a bike or protesting.

Where were all these hispters when the Democrats poisoned our country with public housing and entitlement programs? Why do they walk by the housing projects and pretend everything is fine in dandy inside? Why do we still keep talking about how Bush is the evil racist when Black poverty, illiteracy, home ownership, and incarceration rates increased the most when Congress was controlled by democrats? Why do these same people forget that the Civil Rights Act was submitted by Republicans, when they were the minority party and that most votes against it were democrats?

Why has every liberal in the country forgotten it was the democrats who got us into WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam?

Where was this questioning graffiti artist when Clinton signed NAFTA?

You wonder if the hipsters would paint over a pro-Bush sign and make an exception in their freedom-of-expression credo.

Just asking.

What does David Carr at the NY times have to say about the use of salty acronyms on the internet. I hope you checked with him first to see if it was o.k.

Ah its eryximachus the $150k a year poverty activist.

"Democrats poisoned our country with public housing and entitlement programs?"

err.... as opposed to crushing poverty and post-jim crow inequality?:
I recommend you read

Hipsters probably dont. But democrats have been doing a lot for people inside housing projects, post-dixicrat age.

"Why do we still keep talking about how Bush is the evil racist when Black poverty, illiteracy, home ownership, and incarceration rates increased the most when Congress was controlled by democrats?"

Stats please? References? Are you referring to poverty in the south or overall? The poverty rates betwen 1954-94 (when democrats controlled congress is hell of a large time to measure 'increases')? Lets look at it this way: pre54, there was *no* mention of black rights by republicans OR democrats. 94-2001, when poverty rates across the country were decreasing, I believe is when one W.Clinton was in power, and you can attribute it to his wonderful presidency and economic boom.

"Why do these same people forget that the Civil Rights Act was submitted by Republicans, when they were the minority party and that most votes against it were democrats?"

I agree: dixiecrats were shameful. NOW: Why do republicans consistenty discriminate against black voters by denying them their voting rights across the country?

NAFTA - agreed:I haven't seen bush stepping away from the WTO or proposing solutions though, on the contrary, apart from over steel, he's fellated it & the world bank more than clinton ever got blown in the oval office.

WWI what with the (authenticated) zimmerman telegram and all, I think it would be hard for any president NOT to enter the war. But hey - I'll give that an evens.

The idea that the US shouldnt have been involved in WWII is laughable - proably the only just major war the US has ever involved itself in.

Korea-Vietnam:agreed - cold war evil fuckers all, although the same line used against democrats by republicans: the republicans didn't vote against it - in fact they encouraged it! See mcarthyism bullying for korea and the imbecilles in the eisenhower administration who let mission creep screw them over as far as the post '54 accords go.

---

In short: democrats have been evil fuckers too.
Republicans are currently more evil than them.
Lesser evil wins.

I find the anti-hipster sloganeering as a response to sloganeering graffiti presumed to be by a hipster amusing.

Where was this questioning graffiti artist when Clinton signed NAFTA?

For all you know, they might have been doing more than you were.

So many blatantly unsupported assumptions in the comments above. Hell though, at least there are a couple that have some basis in fact rather than supposition or prejudice.
