It took six tries, but Larry Brown finally has his first win as the head coach of the New York Knicks. Last night, the Knicks held off the Sacramento Kings to win 105-95. Despite leading for 19 points in the first-half, the Knicks let the Kings back into the game in the 3rd quarter. Despite letting the Kings cut the lead to 6, the Knicks didn't fold up shop like they have so many times this season.
Perhaps the reason for the victory was Mark Aguirre's message of "S.S.H." (shit stops here) before the game or the fact that several Knicks had key contributions to the win. At the end of the game, the Knicks had six players with double digit scores. Channing Frye had 19 points and 6 rebounds and Trevor Ariza had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists, both off the bench. The Knicks managed to overcome 21 turnovers as well, something that has plagued them so far this season.
The Knicks try to pick up win #2 tonight against the Utah Jazz.

That was painful. I hope the Kings return the favor on January 25th when they visit the Garden...though they have a lot of work to do before being able to win the fourth game in a six-game East Coast road trip.
