The L was running all day Sunday despite the conspicuous notices saying otherwise. I checked the MTA's website and called their phone information line and both of them said that there would be no service to Manhattan till early Monday morning. WTF? Does this happen often?

What I'm most upset about is that fact that weekday service has been cut. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there are less and less trains running on the 1/2/3 tracks, regardless of what day it is.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm glad that it's only going to cost a buck for the out-of-towners to ride the subways on the weekend, but I'd rather have my old, frequent, service restored.

I think I know why the MTA did all these repairs this weekend and not over last month.

They worried if they did them before the election, they would remind voters of the massive disruption a new subway line and East Side access at Grand Central would necessitate.

So they shrewdly postponed as many repairs as possible until after the election, and the vote on Proposition #2.

And now it's time to pay the piper.

I rode my bike. A bike I had just bought from some gutterpunks at the BK bike-kill. Good bike for cheap. Today I locked it up outside the Lorimer st. station to take the G to the 7 (what fun!) and when I got back, found 3 heavy-duty bike locks attached to mine.

My guess is I bought a stolen bike, the owner saw it and locked it up to reclaim it and clip my lock later.

On the plus side, I wrote a song about it.

Thanks MTA. Uch.
