NYPD Officially Name Braunstein as Rape Suspect

2005_11_super8.jpgThe police have officially announced that they want to question Peter Braunstein about the Halloween night rape in Chelsea. An AP story points out that Braunstein's name had been "floated" as a suspect, but yesterday the NYPD released photographs of Braunstein, both after a February arrest (he was harassing an ex) and from the Super 8 on West 46th Street where he was staying last week. Sources tell the Daily News that the police are confident they have enough evidence to arrest Braunstein, which comes as no surprise to the tabloids' readers, who have been reading about his bizarre exploits for the past week.
