kd, visit the dictionary before you comment. Acitivism = "a policy of taking direct and militant action to achieve a political or social goal...or even guerilla tactics. In contemporary use, "activism" tends to be a word associated with the actions and ideologies of those on the political left. However, activism can stem from any number of political orientations. An activist may be called a terrorist by others, depending on which side of the political fence is making the observation." And by the way, the short summary of the Spielberg's new film uses the term "activists." That comes straight from his distribution company.

"Activist" implies they were writing letters to their elected officials and shouting into bullhorns at rallies. The murderers of 11 athletes, no matter what their nationality, committed terrorism and are therefore terrorists. Calling these killers "activists" is insulting to both Palestinians and Israelis. This is the kind of irresponsible writing that passes for journalism at Reuters these days, too.

Don't you think "responsible for the 11 Israeli athletes kidnapped and murdered" implies terrorism? I don't know how anyone could view it differently. Quit being childish and getting caught up in semantics. Plus, it can mean the same thing: activism.

"Palestinian activists"?! I think the words you need to replace that with are "Palestinian terrorists" - which they are.

Having read Blink and Tipping Point I have to congratulate Mr Gladwell for coming up with catchy synonyms for Intuition and Critical Mass and building an entire career/mystique around it. Perhaps the aformentioned Sheep/Shepard Post refers to this phenomena?
