Parking Garage Fire in Chelsea

2005_11_chelseafire.jpgWNBC 4 reports that two cars are on fire at a Chelsea parking garage at 422 West 15th. While this raises all sorts of questions about vehicular spontaneous combutsion, the A, C, and E trains are bypassing 14th Street.

Update: fire was upgraded to 4 alarms, which is a lot of alarms. 9th Ave is closed 13th to 23rd. If you have any pix from the scene, email them to photos@gothamist.com and they'll appear on the Contribute page-- you can do that from your mobile phone as well.

too bad roger clark was in central park this morning -- he could have dressed up like a firefighter and helped out!

  • So that's what the problem was. At 34th on the E train, the conductor said it was "due to track conditions"...

Sadly, this parking garage is across from NY1 so a lot of the employees cars are parked in there, as well as their mobile units. Poor Gary Anthony Ramsay!
