I would love nothing more than to hear the FD truck idling outside my window, but they do not deliver to my neighborhood. They do, however, enjoy advertising in my neighborhood very much. So irritating.

sp, yes, it probably is an irritating quality of life issue, but they probably do more good than harm. I'm young enough to haul my own groceries, but fresh direct is probably a major quality of life improvement to thousands of housebound people.

Fresh Direct is not cheaper, not at all, but it is convenient. Especially if, like me, your friendly neighborhood supermarket was taken over by the demon, CVS.

no one respects the three minute idling rule. I wish it was enforced though, it would be a great source of revnue for the city and would help the air quality a lot. pugsley, its not about young whippersnappers using up parking, but a neighborhood nuisance. it seems like the whole quality of life issue is enforced in a biased way, as these guys get a free pass. Esther, when you leave in the morning and a truck is there, you come back and it hasnt budged, then you go back out its still there, and when you return hours later, surpise, there it is, well, you get the point... or do you? moron.

I don't live on the Upper West Side, but I have to do street battle with Fresh Direct trucks all the time. All I have to say is they're worse than FedEx and UPS combined.

I wouldn't know if the FD truck outside my apt is there all day. Why? Cuz I'm not there all day! Don't you people leave your houses once in a while?

I think it's illegal for them to idle for more than three minutes; they have to turn the engine off after that. But the refrigerator motors are what make the noise and pollution, right? and I don't know if there are any rules about those.

My biggest problem with Fresh Direct? Idling trucks at all hours of the day and night polluting my neighborhood with noise and emissions. I call 311 when bothered, but I'm not sure we have any recourse.

This style of ranting is a peculiarly disctinct upper west side style. I hope when I'm old I don't obsess about the young whippersnappers using up parking spaces in front of my building.

theres a fresh direct ruck that seems to have taken up permanent residence in front of the duane reade on bway bet 102nd and 103rd. it's incomprehensible, it just sits there idling, spewing diesel fumes, and its there all the time. i'm amazed they can get away with this, and its made me dislike fresh direct to the point that i've stopped buying from them.
