Turkey-Day Hotels

2004_11_balloons2.jpg

It's always been one of our dreams to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade from a hotel room overlooking the parade route-- and then to jump on to the top of the Big Bird balloon, and ride him (her?) triumphantly down Broadway to Herald Square. If you have similar ambitions, you should definitely check out Hotel Chatter's list of hotels on the parade route:

Sheraton New York Hotel & Tower
This hotel is just finishing renovations, according to October guests, which means nice new rooms for your parade watching comfort.

Crowne Plaza
Offers comfort and location.

Hotel Walcott
A NYC bargain choice that offers typically small rooms, slow elevators, and cold showers, according to some recent visitors.

Ameritania Hotel, beware of the small rooms. However, you can find some great rates at this property from time to time, and we here they recently added free WiFi.

And for more Thanksgiving fun, check out some pictures we took at the 2004 and 2003 balloon inflation parties. And if you are already thinking about hotel rooms for New Years Eve, we recommend the W Hotel Times Square-- or check out this map for other well positioned rooms.
