Checks That Won't Forget

2005_10_911check.jpgGothamist was chatting with a friend about getting some new checks, and we decided to head over to Checks in the Mail to look around. Maybe something with a New York City theme. However, the only NYC related checks were either the Statue of Liberty (in a series of four national monuments) or this check of rescue workers raising a flag at Ground Zero. Yes, it's true, you can get the now iconic Thomas Franklin photograph layered over a flag as your check if you want to show that you won't let them win. It's titled "Never Forget" at Checks in the Mail, but, frankly, Gothamist doesn't need these checks to never forget. So we're thinking of getting these checks instead.

No one will ever forget 9/11. Companies need to stop exploiting the issue to make a cheep buck.
Pandas all the way!

Eh. Why doesn't somebody do really custom checks, featuring a photo you email in on the front? I'm sure Jake would love to have checks with Thompson on them. Then again, checks are mostly passe anyway in the age of credit and debit cards. Mostly, except for snail mail bill payments.

i only use one check every month, to pay my rent. and even for that, i could just set it up on my bank's electronic bill pay, and pretty much never have to write a check again.

Thanks, Tina! I had the vultures and skulls years ago, and was informed the company had folded upon my attempt to reorder. Then, I discovered the Star Wars series, until those too were discontinued. I figured I'd go in the other direction, with clowns. And kittens! Now I can order my beloved vultures again.

Speaking of which, my landlord generally prefers cash, or a money order. He made an exception with me when he bought the building. I suspect he's relaxed this restriction on all the new tenants.

Wow, and cockroach address labels?? Hot!
