there is something so meta about this tattoo-- it reminds me of that beavis and butthead joke about getting a tattoo on your butt of a butt with a butt on it.
Maybe it's just me, but I always think "cyclist" when I think of bicycle riders, and reserve "biker" for motorcycle riders. It's an odd reverse, but I've been living on Bizarro Earth for quite some time.
It's not just you. It's all serious cyclists. The only people who call cyclists "bikers" are non-riders. You would think they might be able to figure it out from slang like "biker bars" and "biker chicks," neither of which has anything to do with bicycles, but I guess not.
What makes you think bike tatoos are so unusual? Check out the Campy tats on these guys: http://campyonly.com/tattooed.html
If that guy loves bikes so much that he tattoos a wheel on his calf, maybe he should think about SHOWING some love to his ratty old bike and CLEAN IT.
