Giants-Broncos Preview

2005_09_sgiantslogo.jpgThe Giants will face a stern test on Sunday as they take on the 5-1 Broncos at Giants Stadium. Denver has beaten AFC powers New England and San Diego at home and their only loss came in Miami on the opening weekend of the season. Denver boasts a two-pronged running attack with Tatum Bell and Mike Anderson both rushing for over 350 yards this season. Jake Plummer has cut down on his turnovers to post a respectable 83.6 QB Rating.

The Giants must figure out a way to get their defense off the field. They currently allow a league-worst 51.4% conversion rate on third down. Look for the Giants to try some different schemes and perhaps blitz more to try and keep Denver off-balance. The Giants have four defensive starters listed as questionable, so their game plan will vital.

Tiki Barber complained this week about his touches and expect the Giants to give him the ball a lot more as they attempt to control the clock and rest their defense. Barber may also be utilized more in the passing game where he can be very dangerous. It won’t be pretty, but Gothamist thinks the Giants slog it out for a 24-21 win.
