<description>&lt;p&gt;Even if Singer&apos;s cancer gets built, NYU can&apos;t &quot;buy&quot; property in the building, as I understand it, he&apos;d only be leasing rooms to different universities, who would then turn around and throw their students there.
But come on, the East Village around Tompkins Square Park is practically an NYU student dorm anyway. &lt;/p&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;p&gt;One of my favorite things about NYU students (and being one, I feel somewhat qualified to make this statement) is that they think of location in a decidedly north-south manner.  This is a perfect illustration, as just by being on 9th St, people think it&apos;s &quot;local&quot;... despite, and this is just a guess from looking at a map, it&apos;s about as far a walk from Washington Square as the dorm in Chinatown, and probably not much shorter than from the mentioned 26th St dorm.

But hey, it&apos;s in the Village right?  That&apos;s totally us!&lt;/p&gt;</description>
