Good call - Marty does need Mike more than Mike needs Marty. Marty is one of the most disgusting individuals involved in Brooklyn politics, and that's up against some stiff competition. The idea that the man's an amusing lightweight is hugely dangerous - if only because of his power to legitimise stupid ideas in front of city hall.

I'm not allowed to vote, but if I were you, and lived in brooklyn, I'd look at the green party candidate, Gloria Mattera. But the power of the Dem establishment means that Marty, if not Ferrer, is probably going to benefit from the votes of straight ticket voters. If the utterly useless Betsy Gottbaum can cruise home, there's no reason why Marty can't scrape through.

More importantly, for reasons that utterly mystify me, Marty picked up the Working Families Party's endorsement.

I believe that Republican Mike Bloomberg will need all the help that he could get come November 8, 2005 despite recent polls showing him still ahead since New York City electorate is still heavily pro-Democratic. Bloomberg must not take his Democratic rival Freddy Ferrer lightly since the polls could change (which has a potential of an upset win by Ferrer) even within a short period of time between now and election day. Just ask Mark Green (Dem), who was heavily favored to win in the 2001 mayoral race, but was narrowly upset by Bloomberg in the end. Therefore, Mike Bloomberg must avoid making any controversial mistake and must not assume this election to be a cakewalk.

The do "not call lists" only regulate commercial speech -- not political speech.

How shocking! [sarcasm off]

Seriously, Markowitz had my support as a care-taker politico until he just started being a shill for whatever interest made him look good.

If there were true opposition to him, I'd vote against Markowitz. And while I want an alternative to Bloomber, Ferrer is limp at best.

But for what it's worth I just got a recorded phone call from "Reverend Al Sharpton" explaining why Bloomberg sucks and why Freddy Ferrer is good.

Isn't that a violation of the "do not call" list stuff?
