Down and Out

2005_10_scowboys.jpgPerhaps the Giants offense needed more time off because it didn’t show up until the end of the fourth quarter. Getting the ball back down by seven with 52 seconds left in the game, the Giants scored on two plays to force a fifth quarter of football, but it was all for naught as Dallas took the overtime kickoff and drove for a field goal to win 16-13.

The defenses for both teams stood out on Sunday with each side forcing four turnovers and the other team largely unable to capitalize on them. The Giants jumped to an early 6-0 lead behind two field goals by Jay Feely, but Dallas came back to score a touchdown right before halftime. That was all the scoring until Dallas added two field goals in the fourth quarter and the Giants rallied.

Eli Manning completed only 14 of 30 passes for 215 yards while Tiki Barber rushed for 64 yards and Jeremy Shockey had five catches for 129 yards and a TD. The Giants return home to face the 5-1 Broncos next Sunday.
