Don't Walk- Sit

13316_lg.jpg We don't use the words "hella cool!" all that often, but then again, we don't often stumble across chairs made out of NYC traffic signs. Uncommon Goods has the chair, made by John Carter. Sure, it's $2700, and probably weighs a couple of hundred pounds, but get a load of the features:

The chair comes complete with all the genuine scuffs and stains of its New York City roots, and the seating surfaces have been reglazed with one inch-thick polished resin, cushioned with felt suspension. The chair plugs into a standard 115V AC outlet, and the standard bulbs (included) are replaceable. Handmade in New York City.

Aspiring furniture designers, please take note. We'd like to see a whole line of this furniture-- desks made out of traffic signs, beds made out of park benches, toilets made out of public water fountains. Please get to work.

  • Many butts whose opinion I respect have reacted favorably, in fact. BTW, it does warm up slightly. Quite pleasant in the winter months.

Why are all cool designer chairs always soo uncormfortable??? It kinda defeats the purpose. My friend bought a 800 dollar chair and I can't sit in it for more than ten minutes without my tailbone starting to ache.

  • i wonder if your ass or back would get really hot from the signs.

You know what they say about form plus function...no, I guess you don't.

Please note that the description also states that 10-12 weeks are needed for delivery.

  • Philippe Starck

Only a design-fag ponce would gush over such a piece of ironic, power-consuming, uncomfortable junk.

finally, a chair that consumes energy, is uncomfortable to sit in, and costs only 3 large! brilliant design! banana yellow looks fab!
