Bruckner Closed After Tanker Explosion

2005_10_tanker.jpgYesterday, a truck pulling a tanker with 6000 pounds of fuel flipped over and caused an explosion on the Bruckner in the Bronx, creating a three-alarm fire and killing the driver. One witness said, "I looked and there was big black cloud." About 140 firefighters worked to put out the fire, as the fire snarled traffic on the roads, train tracks and subway lines and damaged parked cars. The truck was reportedly so badly burned that it took a while for the company to be contacted and the body of driver Harbey Munez to be identified.

It's unclear what caused the truck to flip and the Bruckner is partially closed as the city looks at the damage.
