Freddy's comment reveals how anxious he is to be the friend of the working man. The result seems to be that he would be a weak negotiator when dealing with the unions. Sounds like another Dinkins complete with floyd the barber mustache.

freddy would prefer there be no contract? this negotiation didn't just happen. it also happens to be a good contract for both sides. god forbid teachers have to teach, and maybe work while they do it. 2 months vacation in the summer isn't enough?

I'm very glad that the teachers finally have a new contract. But the timing is suspect. Could this have been timed to shift the negative attention from the skipped Harlem debate? The pundits were talking about this very thing on "Road to City Hall" last night.

let me be the first to say: yay! (I have friends who are teachers, and I'm very happy that this has been settled in a way that will be beneficial to them)
